Spectrophotometry is one of the most used methods for quantitative analysis of a soluble sample. This method is used for determination of concentration of known chemical substance in a sample. Every chemical substance, absorbs, emits or reflects light on given wavelength.

Spectrophotometers are measuring devices that measure the quantity of photons that are absorbed by the sample. The working principle consists a light source (lamp) that emits light through a grating.

The grating separates the different wavelengths and from the selector only a chosen wavelength goes through sample to the detector. The detector measures transmittance and absorbance. At the end, the data is shown on a display.
